There are two different ways of ensuring that a publication or a copy is no longer listed in the catalogue so that patrons do not have access to it.

Removing a title

This action allows a publication to be completely removed from the catalogue. Patrons can then no longer borrow it, reserve it or even find it in the catalogue.

  1. Go to the Catalogue section.
  2. Click on one of the titles displayed in the search results to open the detail page for that publication.
  3. Click on Remove from catalogue at the top right.
  4. Indicate the reason for the removal.
  5. Click on Remove.

This action can be useful when you want to remove a publication for curation or moderation purposes, or make it unavailable while fixing a technical issue. This prevents patrons from borrowing the publication and generating unnecessary loans against it.

To put a publication back in the catalogue:

  1. Go to the Catalogue section.
  2. Click on one of the titles displayed in the search results to open the detail page for that publication.
  3. Click on Return to catalogue (this button replaces the Remove from catalogue button when the publication is already removed).
  4. Click on the Return button.

Managing the availability of a copy

You can schedule the availability of copies acquired by your organization, as well as make them available or unavailable. This feature is typically used to allow librarians to review a publication's metadata or to control the date on which the library wants to make available copies purchased at an earlier date.

See the article Managing the availability of copies for more details.
