Facets are predefined filters based on various common attributes of publications. A large number of facets are available in most of the platform's screens.
Features of the facets
- Hierarchical: from parent categories, you can drill down through multiple sub-categories, allowing for fine-grained, cross-category groupings.
- Combinable: most of these facets can be independently combined with each other.
- Dynamic: the available facets will vary depending on user-defined context. For example, selecting a specific publisher will display the list of collections offered by that publisher.
Available facets
- Categories: keywords describing most aspects of a publication, such as its subject matter, discipline, genre, period, country or type.
- Publisher: every publisher associated with the publications listed in the catalogue (selecting this facet will display to the list of collections specific to each publisher).
- Release date: to find works published in the last 7 or 30 days, or in the last year.
- Catalogue date: to find works added to the catalogue in the last 7 or 30 days, or in the last year.
- Audience: the type of readership associated with the publications (reading level, age group, etc.).
- Language: to find publications written in a particular language.
- Format: the main file formats of the publications listed in the catalogue: PDF, EPUB, audio book.
Location of the facets
- Facets are available in all navigation screens of the catalogue and the various selections.
- Facets associated with a publication are also displayed as labels, at the top of that publication's detail screen, as well as with every list where this publication appears.
Using facets
- To add a facet, simply click on it in the left-hand menu. It will filter the current list of publications, and be combined to any previously applied facet. Clicking on several facets allows you to filter the publications even more precisely.
- To remove a facet, simply click on its label: currently applied facets are displayed as labels at the top of the list of publications.
