When selling publications internationally, it is important to provide prices in various currencies. You can do this manually or by using the Pricing Policy or Dynamic Pricing Policy tools.

It is advisable to provide prices in the five basic currencies: CAD, USD, EUR, GBP and CHF. The US dollar (USD) and the euro (EUR) can be provided for all territories (also called World prices).

Adding a World price

You can add a World price in two different ways:

  • By importing an ONIX 3.0 file (using the WORLD value for the <CountriesIncluded> tag or for the <RegionsIncluded> tag found under the <Price> tag);
  • Through the interface, in the Metadata > Sales section by checking, after selecting the currency, the Check all box under the Country section (if all countries in the world are configured in the platform)*.

In the Metadata > Sales section the World price is displayed as a single price with the heading World.

World price examples

The World price is sent to all countries and open points of sale that accept the currency associated with it, while respecting the country configuration of the booksellers' network and the external platforms. Thus, only the countries configured to accept the World price currency will receive it.

Example 1

If the World price is in euros and Australia is not set up to support that currency, then the World price will not be used for Australia.

Example 2

If the World price is in euros and a Canadian bookseller's website is not configured to support a currency other than the Canadian dollar, the publication will not be available for sale on that site.

The World price is a quick way to define a price applicable to all countries in the world.

If the World price does not display after being added through the interface, then an ONIX 3.0 import must be used.
