If the borrowed publication you have downloaded has the .acsm extension, it is protected by Adobe's DRM, and can only be opened using the Adobe Digital Editions application.

Opening your borrowed ebook with Adobe Digital Editions
If you already have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer, simply click on the downloaded file from your browser to open it.
You can also access your download by opening the Downloads folder on your computer.
- Click on the folder icon in your PC's taskbar to open the file explorer.
- Click on the Downloads folder.
- Click on the downloaded file; it opens in Adobe Digital Editions.
