E-readers are not designed to borrow digital books directly. To read an ebook borrowed from your library on your e-reader, you must download the borrowed ebook file to your computer using the platform's Web interface, and then transfer it to your e-reader using Adobe Digital Editions software. An Adobe ID is also required. Follow the steps below to find out how to do this.

Amazon Kindle

You won't be able to read an ebook borrowed from your library on the Amazon Kindle (all models), because it does not support EPUB files, but rather the AWZ format, a proprietary format developed and sold only by Amazon. Amazon Fire tablets on the other hand, since they use the Android operating system, are compatible with the EPUB format. See the Compatible reading devices and applications section to learn more.
